General Information

Substantially Closed

International air travel into Moldova has resumed. However, it's not yet clear if foreign tourists are allowed to enter. 

The Chisinau Airport (KIV) and various airlines operating in the country have been required to implement health screening, hygiene, and social-distancing measures. 


Mask Requirement

Mask is required to be worn in all public indoor, public transport and certain outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible.

Internal Restrictions/Closures

The lockdown in Moldova is almost over. People are now generally allowed to be out in public as long as it's not in groups of over 3 people and they still observe social distancing. 

Most businesses have now reopened. This includes shops, malls, all other retail businesses, restaurants, bars, cafes, gyms, salons, and open-air food markets. 

A few businesses will remain closed until August 31. This includes movie theaters and nightclubs. Everyone must wear face masks and gloves on public transport and face masks in public spaces.

Information for Non-Tourists

Until August 31, foreigners are not permitted into Moldova unless they qualify for an exemption: 

(1) immediate family members of Moldovan citizens;

(2) persons having a visa, residency permit, or other document issued by Moldovan authorities;

(3) persons traveling for “professional interest” in possession of a visa, residency permit, or other document issued by Moldovan authorities;

(4) diplomats accredited to Moldova and members of international organizations and their family members; personnel who can provide humanitarian aid;

(5) passengers in transit.  For all questions about who may enter Moldova, please refer to the Moldovan Bureau of Migration and Asylum and the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Travelers are subject to health screenings, must fill out epidemiological files and self-isolate for a period of 14 days.
