General Information
Myanmar is presently closed to travellers visiting for tourist purposes.
Myanmar's government has postponed its reopening plans to at least Oct. 31 amid increased local coronavirus disease (COVID-19) activity in the country.
Returning citizens or those allowed entry are subject to mandatory testing and/or up to 28 day quarantine.
Mask Requirement

Mask is required to be worn in all public indoor, public transport and all outdoor areas.
Internal Restrictions/Closures
Since May 13, it has been compulsory for anyone going out in public to wear a facemask. Failure to wear one will result in a fine of MMK 5000. This requirement is being enforced strictly and has led to the arrest of offenders in some districts of Yangon.
Most shops, businesses, and restaurants have re-opened. Hotels are allowed to open after passing a government inspection. It is compulsory for anyone going out in public to wear a face mask.
Myanmar continues to adjust restrictions as of Sept. 4, following an increase in local coronavirus disease (COVID-19) activity. Naypyidaw requires arrivals to quarantine and test for COVID-19 at government-designated sites, though the length of isolation varies.
People coming from areas within Myanmar with no known COVID-19 cases will quarantine for at least two days, while arrivals from localities with known COVID-19 cases must isolate for at least seven days. Travelers must provide evidence of their recent travel history and can leave the quarantine facilities only upon testing negative for COVID-19.
Airlines & Transport
Relief and cargo flights continue operating in Myanmar.
The government has restricted cross-border movements at land checkpoints, allowing only the transport of goods.
Mann Yadanarpon Airlines (7Y) has reportedly suspended flights to Sittwe Airport (AKY). Myanmar National Airlines (UB) has resumed flights after earlier also stopping flights to AKY.
Authorities may shut major streets and transport hubs in the city. Officials are likely increasing health checks at key roads and transport centers in the city that remain operational.
In other regions, local authorities may require travelers from Sittwe to undergo quarantine and COVID-19 tests upon arrival. Officials in Yangon have ordered passengers from Sittwe to isolate at designated facilities for 21 days.
Additionally, bus service providers in Mandalay and Yangon have suspended routes serving Sittwe.
