General Information

Plans to Reopen

Palau is presently closed to travellers visiting for tourist purposes.

As of Sept. 1st, Palau has delayed the reopening of its borders. It's not yet clear when the country will reopen. But once it opens, the country will implement strict protocols. Every passenger will be required to provide a negative Covid-19 test result 72 hours before to boarding a plane.

For now, returning citizens or those allowed entry are subject to mandatory testing and/or 14 day quarantine.

Mask Requirement

Mask is required to be worn in all public indoor, public transport and certain outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible.

Internal Restrictions/Closures

Palau is one of the few nations in the world with no confirmed cases of Covid-19.  However, the government has applied some preventative measures and are prepared for any positive case.

Schools have also reopened recently after months of closure. But the Ministry of Education underlined that schools would be putting in place preventive measures.

Airlines & Transport

Authorities to reopen borders to essential air services by September 1. The first two countries Palau would establish "essential air services" were Taiwan and the United States.

The number of flights would be based on the capacity of the National Emergency Committee and Ministry of Health to handle in terms of the available number of quarantine rooms and services required.

Information for Non-Tourists

Palau has opened its borders to a US military "humanitarian mission."

Palau will prohibit entry of all travelers with travel history originating from or transiting through mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau within 14 days of their arrival in the country.

Exemption may be made to this prohibition for Palauan citizens and residents, provided that such persons submit to a comprehensive health screening and agree to a 14-day self-quarantine upon arrival in Palau.

Any person, including a crew member, a Palauan citizen, or a Palau resident, arriving into Palau at any point of entry is required to complete a health declaration form.
