Detailed Restriction/Reopening Information For Suriname
Data Last Updated: August 14, 2020

General Information

Substantially Closed

Suriname is presently closed to travellers visiting for tourist purposes.

Returning citizens or those allowed entry are subject to mandatory testing and/or 14 day quarantine.

Mask Requirement

Mask is required to be worn in all public indoor, public transport and certain outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible.

Internal Restrictions/Closures

Authorities in Suriname have revised and extended the curfew to 2000-0500 through at least Aug. 24, as part of the government's ongoing efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), while still allowing for some recovery.

All individuals and employees must continue to adhere to regular hygiene protocols and physical distancing measures, including keeping 1.5 meters (5 feet) between individuals and wearing a nose and mouth covering. Businesses that are permitted to open must enforce strict operating protocols.

Airlines & Transport

International passenger movement at all ports of entry remains banned until further notice. Officials have made provisions for cargo, medical, and repatriation flights. Domestic passenger flights are also permitted under strict guidelines.

The movement of essential goods by land remains ongoing; however, enhanced health screenings may result in delivery delays. Heightened security measures are being enforced along the country's eastern borders. All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice.
