General Information

Substantially Closed

Viet Nam is presently closed to travelers visiting for tourist purposes.

On Sept 15, Vietnam has reopened its borders for international visitors. However, they will only allow foreign experts, investors, managers, skilled workers, and resident diplomats at the moment. Foreign tourists remain prohibited from boarding inbound flights and visiting Vietnam.

Mask Requirement

Mask is required to be worn in all public indoor, public transport and all outdoor areas.

Internal Restrictions/Closures

Officials in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's two largest cities, have banned activities involving crowds indefinitely.

Local governments in both cities have also suspended entertainment venues, including bars and karaoke parlors, and limited mass gatherings to 30 people until further notice.

In locations that allow tourism sites to continue operating, common health protocols include requiring all visitors and workers to use protective masks, sanitize their hands frequently, and maintain physical distancing.

In various locations, including Ho Chi Minh City, people have to wear facemasks when in public; noncompliance could result in fines of VND 100,000-300,000 (USD 4-13).

Airlines & Transport

Flights to Vietnam remain operational, though only Vietnamese citizens and limited groups of foreigners can board.
